In Fall 2018, I decided to participate in an affordable housing design competition for BeeBreeders, now Buildner. While I did not place, it was very illuminating to explore a product design concept I have had for some time. The brief sought design ideas for flexible and deployable multifamily housing for residents of the city of London. My concept was to employ prefabrication techniques to construct apartment units in the city. Prefabricated construction would allow for faster construction, less material waste, and lower overall costs. The St. Georges Flats are designed with the intent of using factory-built wall panels. The wall panels afford more flexibility in design, and their size makes transport easy in London city streets. Follow the link below to look at my competition submission.
